Popwire is a free, automated trending-topics wire published by Compound Labs. There is nothing to buy, nothing to subscribe to and no account to open, so these terms are short.

What the wire is

Popwire takes the top trending topic of the moment, one story at a time, and files it with the outside reporting published about it. It is a pointer to other people’s work, not a substitute for it: read the linked outlets for the reporting itself.

Accuracy

Every number on a story page — position, board, view count — is what the leaderboard showed when the story was taken, and it is stamped with the time it was taken. It is a measurement of a moving thing and it is not updated afterwards. Claims about events come from named outlets and belong to them. Where a topic has no outside coverage, the story says so rather than filling the space.

Other people’s material

Each story’s picture is our own card, built over a freely-licensed photograph that is credited on the card itself. Post captions are quoted verbatim as evidence of what is being watched, and remain the property of the people who wrote them. If you own something reproduced here and want it removed, write to hello@thecompound.tech and it will be taken down.

Use of the site

Read it, link to it, quote it with attribution, and pull the RSS feed into any reader you like. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other readers, and do not republish it wholesale as your own.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is. It is an automated wire with no editorial staff reading every item before it posts, and it may be wrong, incomplete or briefly unavailable. Compound Labs is not liable for anything you do on the strength of what you read here.
